Please see the paper by Saul-Gershenz and Millar 2006 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It is the cooperative chemical mimicry of the female host bee that attracts the male bee to pseudocopulate with the aggregation of larvae. Vibrations have not been detected to date but also have not been explored as a communication signal or attraction signal by the larvae so perhaps they may be used.
